Ambassador Betty Oyella Bigombe

Ambassador Betty Oyella Bigombe is an internationally recognized, award-winning expert in conflict resolution, armed conflict mediation, and post-conflict peacemaking and rehabilitation and is currently the Ugandan High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Malaysia. Betty Oyella Bigombe has served as Uganda’s Special Envoy to South Sudan and has played a key role in conflict prevention and mediation in Africa. Ambassador is a member of the FemWise –Africa and Commonwealth women mediation networks. She led the peace and humanitarian efforts in northern Uganda, first in the 1990s as Minister of State for Northern Uganda and later in her private capacity as a chief mediator to the conflict in the mid-2000s.

Ambassador Bigombe has served in several development positions over her career, including as the Senior Director for Fragility, Conflict, and Violence at the World Bank from 2014 to 2017. From 2011 until 2014, she was the State Minister for Water Resources in the Uganda Cabinet.

    PROFESSOR ISMAILA MADIOR FALL

    Prof. Ismaila Madior Fall, a professor of public law and political science at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Senegal currently serves as  Senegalese Abroad in the Government of the Republic of Senegal.

    He is a member of several research networks in Africa and globally, author of several books on democratization in Africa, former Director of the Centre for Study and Research on Institutions and African Laws of the Cheikh Anta Diop University (CREDILA). He has served as Legal Expert of several African governments and international organizations including the United Nations, European Union, African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

     

    Sardia Mould

    Sardia Mould is a distinguished professional with a rich background spanning in education, technology, and entrepreneurship. With a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Secretaryship and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, she laid the foundation for her impactful career. In 1997, Sardia achieved a Master of Science in Business Information Technology from Middlesex University, UK, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning. Her academic journey included a role as Research Manager and part-time lecturer in Database Management Systems at Middlesex University.

    Sardia’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Savannah International Academy in 2011, with immense support from her husband Dr William Mould, where she serves as the Co-Founder and CEO. This institution stands as a beacon of educational excellence, accredited by the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE), UK. As the Founder and CEO of Savannah Publications Ltd, publishers of Today’s Parent Magazine, Sardia contributed significantly to parenting discourse in Ghana. Her multifaceted career includes co-founding Africa Global Radio and serving as Co-Founder and Training Manager at BizAlliance Ltd.

    Beyond her professional achievements, Sardia is a passionate social entrepreneur committed to education, youth and women empowerment, and mental health. With over 25 years of experience in Ghana and the UK, she has volunteered for various charities addressing HIV/AIDS, Sickle Cell Disease Support, northern women empowerment, mental health, and education. Sardia Mould is a true Pan African, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage. Her leadership and commitment continue to shape the landscape of education and social impact in Ghana and beyond.

    SARAH ASAFO-AGYEI

    Managing Director Attai Group Limited. Sarah is a wealth management specialist with over 16 years’ experience in the financial services sector. Prior to founding Attai, Sarah was a Director at Societe Generale Private Bank Hambros UK. Prior to this she with was with Barclays Wealth UK,where she was Vice-President in the Wealth Management division focusing on West African clients. Her wealth management career has seen her work with Investec Private Bank in South Africa and ABSA Wealth, it was her role at ABSA Wealth that propelled her move to Barclays Wealth UK.

    She started off her financial services career with Citibank N.A South Africa, a role which gave her significant exposure to the financial services sector in Kenya, Zambia and South Africa. Attai Group is a consultancy services company. She has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the Witwatersrand South Africa, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (Cum Laude) degree from the University of Kwazulu Natal, where she received a Golden Key National Honour Society award for scholastic achievement. She is a member of the Chartered Institute For Securities & Investments UK (CISI). She is a 2015 Laureate of the Institut Choiseul “100 Africa Economic Leaders of Tomorrow” award and has published articles in the South African Journal of Psychology. She is currently a Non-Executive director for Prime Infrastructure & Engineering Services Ghana Limited a subsidiary of SWAP Technologies and Telecomms Plc and a Director for Sahel Health.

    Dr. Admore Mupoki Kambudzi

    Dr Kambudzi was born in Gutu communal lands in south-central Zimbabwe, and later grew up in Chikomba District to which his parents had migrated, in 1964, to run an agro-commercial venture. He was educated at the University of Zimbabwe, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Politics and Administration, and subsequently, a Master’s Degree in International Relations in 1987. He then went to study in France where he obtained a Diploma in French and later on, a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in International Relations. Between 1993 and mid-2001, Admore Mupoki Kambudzi taught political science at the University of Zimbabwe. He later took up a United Nations consultancy in 2001, to assist the OAU/African Union in putting in place the African Peace and Security Architecture – this being Africa’s blueprint for promoting peace, security and stability in the continent.

    In 2006, he became the Secretary of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, which is the supreme organ responsible for decision-making on issues of peace and security in Africa. Further, in January 2016, he also took an additional task as Acting Director and then Director of the AU Peace and Security Department until his retirement in 2021. Admore Mupoki Kambudzi is the author of the book ‘Africa’s Peace Fiasco’, and “Africa: A stride towards peace, security and stability”, numerous published articles in scientific journals and several book chapters. Alongside his professional endeavors, Admore Mupoki Kambudzi has remained an admirer and practitioner of entrepreneurship, with a special interest in agriculture and socio-economic development within proximity – a concept that forms the core of his doctoral thesis in International Relations. He has provided in the past, and continues to provide technical and financial support to several local community level development projects in Chikomba District – his home district. He is a farmer on his own merit.

    Dr O Helen Okoye

    Dr Obianuju Helen Okoye is a highly accomplished and sought after American Public Health Physician/Healthcare executive, with a Medical Degree (MD), an MBA in Healthcare Management, and a Masters in Epidemiology/Public Health. She has been featured on NBC News, Yahoo News, The Huffington Post, The Reader’s Digest, Tonic by VICE, She Knows, Massage Magazine, Carol Roth, among others. She is a contributing writer to Entrepreneur magazine and previously, the Huffington Post. She has been a scientific writer for several renowned platforms. Her background includes being a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Research Fellow, and leading two US States in transforming HIV Quality, and management. She has a plethora of clinical research experience and has presented at US and International Medical Conferences.

    Dr Okoye also has a passion for empowering the underserved communities through business and served as a speaker on a panel with the Trade with Africa summit. Ardent about the African continent, and the underserved populations, she also seats on the board of organizations in Haiti and Nigeria, helping to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Based in Chicago, Illinois, Dr Okoye currently serves as a Chief Clinical Officer on the Executive Management for a leading health Center. Passionate about her Christian faith, Dr Okoye is married to an amazing husband, and blessed with three beautiful young kids. Uju Okoye, MD, MBA, MS-Epi.

    Anisat Simmons

    Anisat is currently the Program Director of Product Release Readiness and Transformation for the IBM Watson IoT /Sustainability software brand and Manager of the Critical Escalation Team. She leads an international team responsible for enabling client success by providing technical solutions that enhance and maximize the use of IBM Sustainability Software’s products and best practices. Anisat joined IBM in September 2005 and has held various leadership roles, including responsibility for Operational excellence following IBM’s acquisition of Rational.

    Anisat’s greatest strengths are her leadership skills, business acumen, and strategic thinking. She has repeatedly demonstrated her expertise in developing and leading high-performance teams that take pride in their proven ability to deliver exceptional results. Anisat completed her undergraduate work at Southern New Hampshire University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business. She graduated with honors from the university with three Master’s degrees in Information Technology, International Economic Development, & Business Administration. Anisat enjoys travelling, hiking, and volunteering for social causes outside of work. She resides in Los Gatos California.

     

    JOSHUA LARBI

    Joshua is a thought expert with considerable working experience in mortgage banking, oiltrading, marketing, energy finance and business development. Joshua is currently the Marketing and Business Development Manager for Juwel Energy Limited, a bulk oil distributor in Ghana. Prior to this role, Joshua worked with the Home Retention Division for Bank of America, one of the world’s largest financial institutions domiciled in the United States of America.

    Joshua has a strong risk and conventional mortgage underwriting experience. He started his career in Oil and Gas with Oando Ghana and rose through the ranks before relocating to the United States. Joshua has had various opportunities to develop his leadership credentials. He holds an MBA degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) from Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA. He holds a leadership certificate in Executive Development Program from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in the US.

    Overall, Joshua’s experience and learning journey has built him into a consummate professional with a strong passion for the development of entrepreneurship and innovative skills of the next generation of Ghana, Africa and the world at large.

    Anatu Ben-Lawal, Founder

    Anatu is a turnaround strategist with extensive experience working in development across ten sectors over the last fifteen years throughout Africa and the rest of the world. Having worked at regional level with organizations such as Enactus, Water Aid, the Hunger Project, Reach for Change to name a few her driving vision is to bring entrepreneurial solutions to the African grassroots in order to achieve the objectives of the African Union -Vision 2063 ‘the Africa we want’.

    Driven from a young age by a vision of an African industrial revolution Miss Ben-Lawal believes that the current pandemic and dwindling donor funds give unprecedented opportunity for innovative African solutions that can position the continent as the industrial hub of the world providing youth employment and curbing forced migration in the process.

    A passionate espouser of women and human rights Anatu has been instrumental in designing and implementing innovative women economic empowerment programs to combat sexual and gender-based violence in countries such as Senegal, DRC, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso to name a few. She has worked extensively across fifteen African countries and visited over 44 globally in her bid to create networks and connections towards the fostering of the coming African Renaissance. Anatu continues to consult for governments and cites herbology, astronomy and gardening as her main hobbies.

    Dorothy Janet Adebanjo,

    Co-Founder 

    is an enthusiastic, experienced and passionate advocate for women and girls’ rights, with an excellent track record of hitting targets in the Third Sector for 20 years. Best described as a strategist and partnership builder who specialises in building feminist economies, her areas of expertise include Financial Inclusion, advocacy, fundraising & development finance and management. She is also an international consultant, trainer and researcher. It has been her life’s work to actively participate in challenging the systems that uphold injustices. She continues to fight for the respect, protection and

    fulfilment of human rights for all and amplifying the interconnected and intersectional nature of social and economic issues. She thrives when working in a team towards these common goals. Dorothy is a strong believer in, and builder, of strong institutions which have at their core knowledge curation. Together we can go far is her mantra. She has experience of working with all levels of Government from technocrats to Ministerial. Her experience extends to communities, at national, regional and international levels.

    Dorothy comes from a background in both the private sector as an entrepreneur who started her own manufacturing company in 1996 and subsequently worked to build investment pipelines for Women’s funds. She worked as the Women in Finance Network Manager of the Graca Machel Trust covering 17 African countries. She has led institutions in the non-profit sector since 2006 and worked for a number of years in the United Nations family of specialised agencies.

    Kenneth Mpyisi

    Regional Director, SIA East & Southern Africa

    He is a former Ugandan career diplomat with over 25 years experience in the field of diplomacy, peace & security, gender and governance. He has served in senior positions at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).

    Mr. Mpyisi has undertaken consultancies for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), East African Community (EAC), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI). He holds an M.A. in International Relations, University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom, M.A. in International Policy Studies (Security and Development) and Certificate in Gender and Development from the Monterey Institute for International Policy Studies, California, USA.

    He is an Accredited Building Resources in Democracy Governance and Elections (BRIDGE) and Mediation Facilitator. He has conducted training for member of Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs), political parties and civil society. Mr. Mpyisi has published widely on issues related to human security and governance in Africa.

    Ambassador. Yvonne Khamati-Yahaya
    Senior Advisor- African Inter-Party Dialogue Network (AIPDN)

    Ambassador Yvonne Khamati-Yahaya is a Kenyan politician who was nominated to the East African Legislative Assembly as Member of Parliament by Ford Kenya Party (and the Kenya National Assembly) aged 21 and a diplomat who was appointed by President Mwai Kibaki to serve as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to Ethiopia and African Union. She has served in the past, as the Chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives and Rapporteur of the African Diplomatic Corp, in the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has worked in various missions. She served as the deputy ambassador of Kenya at the Kenyan Embassy in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia and most recently as the C.E.O of the Kenya National Heroes Council, a parastatal under the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage. Ambassador Khamati-Yahaya brings valuable practical political and skills in support of the activities of the AIPDN.

    Christopher Githaiga Waiganjo

    Director, SIA-Kenya Operations

    Mr. Waiganjo is an experienced senior administrator with vast experience in the private sector and governance spanning the past 30 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Governance and Leadership, Jomo Kenyatta University and Post graduate Diploma in County Governance, Jomo Kenyatta University of Advanced Technology. Mr. Waiganjo is a qualified accountant and brings valuable financial management skills and oversees all administrative matters at the Regional Office for East and Southern Africa. In addition to serving as a Director, he works with the African Inter-Party Dialogue Network (AIPDN) on supporting dialogue activities and promoting democratic processes in Kenya and the IGAD region.

    Alex Rusita

    Senior Policy Analyst

    Alex has extensive expertise and experience in development planning and management in all aspects of aid programme cycle management with a focus on results based management and monitoring and evaluation as well as development policy development analysis and development in a wide range of sectors. He has worked extensively in Eastern, Southern Africa, the Horn and Caribbean in mostly in delivering policy advice and humanitarian assistance which has been increasingly complex as a result of the growing global challenges like climate change and other social, economic and related challenges in the developing countries.
    He has worked over the last 3 decades with multilateral and bilateral organizations in the region, as well as with local and international NGO’s and think tanks at all levels from the community up to the national policy level. He has in his career worked in a multi-sectoral environment which has included Public Health, Public Sector Development, Capacity Building, Trade and Humanitarian Assistance and Peace Building.  Currently his passion is job creation for the youth in Africa for a more prosperous future.

    Ikhlass Ahmed

    Women’s Right Defender/ Youth Peace Builder

    Ikhlass is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and a dedicated youth peace builder hailing from Sudan/ North Darfur. With a strong background in radiology medical science, Ikhlass graduated from Karary University four years ago, demonstrating her commitment to both academic excellence and societal development. As a co-founder of Women of Darfur, Ikhlass has played a pivotal role in establishing a powerful platform for women in Darfur to express themselves and have their voices heard. Through the medium of a photo blog, she and her team strive to shed light on the lives and experiences of women in the region, aiming to empower them and amplify their roles within society.
    Ikhlass brings a unique perspective to her work, leveraging her educational background in radiology medical science to foster empathy and understanding among diverse communities. Her ability to bridge the gap between healthcare and social justice has enabled her to contribute meaningfully to the empowerment of women and the promotion of peace. With her unwavering dedication, Ikhlass has been actively involved in various initiatives and projects aimed at advancing women’s rights in Sudan. She has collaborated with local organizations, facilitated workshops, and participated in campaigns that address issues such as gender equality, access to education, and ending violence against women.
    Beyond her local impact, Ikhlass has also engaged in international platforms, to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women in Darfur and other marginalized communities. Her ability to communicate effectively and inspire change has garnered recognition and respect from colleagues and stakeholders alike. Ikhlass Ahmed’s commitment to championing women’s rights and building a more peaceful society reflects her belief in the transformative power of empathy, education, and collective action. With her tireless efforts, she continues to create spaces for dialogue, advocate for justice, and inspire others to join the movement for equality and social change.

    Dr. Mumuni Napari Hanifatu

    Regional Movement Lead (Young Feminists)

    Holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University for Development Studies, a Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Ghana, and a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University for Development Studies, Ghana. Her PhD research centered on the application of statistics in software engineering, particularly in the area of software reliability growth models.

    Additionally, Hanifatu has a strong interest in promoting and supporting women in STEM fields and enjoys watching psychological thriller movies in her free time. She currently lectures statistics courses at Tamale Technical University and also provides statistical consulting services to individuals and organizations.
